Suche Frieden“: Unter diesem Leitwort steht der 101. Deutsche Katholikentag in Münster. Vom 9. bis 13. Mai 2018 (verlängertes Wochenende über den Feiertag Christi Himmelfahrt) wird es rund 1.000 Veranstaltungen geben, die ernst und fröhlich, geistlich und politisch sein werden: Geplant sind Podiumsdiskussionen mit Vertretern aus Kirche, Politik und Gesellschaft, Workshops, Ausstellungen, Konzerte und Kleinkunst, bunte Straßenfeste und natürlich große und kleine Gottesdienste.
Katholikentag—was ist denn das?
D
en Katholikentag gibt es schon seit der deutschen „Märzrevolution“ im Jahr 1848. Damals war er so etwas wie ein erstes „Parlament“ der Katholiken in Deutschland. Heute ist aus dem Katholikentag ein großes Festival des Glaubens und des Dialogs geworden – Alt und Jung treffen sich, singen, spielen, beten, diskutieren und feiern miteinander.

nd wie komme ich da hin?
Wir fahren mit einer kleinen Gruppe von der KHG Bayreuth nach Münster. Übernachten werden wir dort in einem Gemeinschaftsquartier (Schule) mit Isomatte und Schlafsack.
Kosten: 50,- € für Fahrt, 4x Übernachtung mit Frühstück, Eintritt und Fahrausweis für ÖPNV

“Search for peace” is the motto of the 101st Deutscher Katholikentag (German Catholic Convention), which will take place in Münster from May 9th till May 13th 2018 (prolonged weekend, including Ascension Day holiday). There’ll be around 1000 events, some serious, some joyful, some spiritual and some political. There will be panel discussions with VIPs from politics, church and society, but also creative and spiritual workshops for everybody, Also, there’ll be lots of exhibitions, concerts, performances. street festivities and, of course, small and big church services.
“Deutscher Katholikentag”, what does it mean?
Katholikentage, German Catholic Conventions, are mega events with a time-honored tradition. For more than 170 years it has convened Catholics and the faithful of all denominations in dialogue. In 1848, during the first democracy movement in Germany, Katholikentage were grown out of a Catholic lay person movement trying to bring parliamentary discourse into the Catholic church. Nowadays they’re a a big festival of faith and also of dialogue.
Katholikentage are reflections of life in church: Bringing people of all ages, all parts of Germany and the world together. To experience collective belief vibrant and alive, to shape the future and to regain one’s strength – that is what the participants focus on. Besides, German Catholic Conventions are places to face current political and social problems and challenges and to search for ways to create the world by belief. Many signals and ideas for society and church came from German Catholic Conventions.
